Are you offering the right compliance training?

Many managers are aware they should be offering health and safety training to meet compliance requirements however it does not necessarily follow that the right courses are being offered and these requirements are being met.

To help facilities and training managers fulfil their compliance obligations, the Environmental Essentials Training Academy is launching six new online compliance training courses in July 2018, all approved by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The initial library of RoSPA-approved courses available comprises: Anthrax Awareness in Construction, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), First Aid Awareness, Manual Handling, Legionella Awareness, and Working Safely with Ladders.

The benefits of elearning and online learner management systems are manifold. Designed by experienced health and safety professionals and developed by qualified elearning authors, Environmental Essentials’ courses provide a compliance training solution that’s effective in terms of both time and money.

All courses on the compliance training portal are easy to purchase, instantly accessible and mobile responsive. The technology enables flexible scheduling, so training can fit around an employee’s responsibilities as well as an organisation’s operational needs - by making use of downtime, for example. Users can save their progress so courses do not have to be finished in one sitting, and managers can set completion deadlines. The system also enables powerful record-keeping, auditing and training needs analysis functions, so there’s no need for training managers to maintain confusing spreadsheets. Even if an organisation has its own learner management system in place, the courses are published using SCORM 1.2 so they can almost certainly be integrated with an existing system.

“There’s no suggestion by us that elearning can replace physical space training completely. In skills based training such as manual handling, for example, there is always going to be a requirement for a competent person to demonstrate and then observe that skill,” commented Kathryn Ing, Environmental Essentials’ Health, Safety and Environment Manager.

“However, compliance is our business, so it makes sense for us to provide this part of the solution in a way which helps organisations most effectively, most confidently and most efficiently complete their employees’ compliance training.”

With 14 years’ experience working with some of the most stringent regulatory standards that exist, Environmental Essentials is ideally placed to help organisations operating across all sectors fulfil their health and safety training needs. With this in mind the company is broadening out the range of compliance training it offers from asbestos awareness to other areas. In future, the course library is set to grow based on the needs of clients and potential clients.
