The Oaks Academy Students meet Female Leaders in Business

Environmental Essential's staff inspire female students to apply themselves at school

On Tuesday 5th July 2016 Ten Year 8 female students from The Oaks Academy, in Crewe, came to meet some female employees in the company.  The day was about raising aspirations and demonstrating to the girls different pathways they can use to get to where they would like to be as a career.  The girls all met high profile female employees from the business and each spent time with those employees talking about career pathways and future plans.

The day was a massive success with each girl saying what a fantastic experience it was.  Some of the girls commented “ I knew I liked Science but since talking to Rachel I definitely know I want to take it further now and study forensic sciences”.  Another girl commented “ I really enjoyed how they had all done different things to get to where they were but were all really positive about us doing well.”

The final quote from one of the girls needs mentioning “ I liked how every one of the females we met from the company encouraged us to aim high and dream big.  They all kept saying that we could be whatever we wanted.  It was really nice of them to encourage me like that”.  The girls had a fantastic time and learned lots about females in industry.

Mr Maher, Assistant Headteacher commented “The girls were absolutely brilliant.  They engaged with the employees from Environmental Essential and it was great for them to meet some really positive role models.  The female members of staff were a credit to the company and really encouraged our students to do their best”.
