This advanced course will help you meet the legionella training requirements for the responsible person and duty holder set by the UK’s primary safety regulators, the Health and Safety Executive, the Care Quality Commission and Ofsted.
Who is it for?
This course is designed specifically for people who have taken on the role of the responsible person or statutory duty holder for the control of Legionella in the workplace.
What are the objectives?
This course covers legionellosis and more specifically Legionnaires’ disease, and the control of Legionella bacteria in hot and cold water systems. It takes a detailed look at current water safety risk management practices, recommended industry guidelines and the safety regulations that surround this process, including the Health and Safety Executive ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidance documents.
Developed for people appointed as the responsible person or duty holder. This course is ideal for landlords, business owners and directors, health and safety specialists, plant operators, property and facilities managers and maintenance technicians who need a detailed understanding of Legionnaires’ disease, the control of legionella in the workplace, the UKs regulatory framework and those steps required to achieve compliance with the law.

This Legionella Awareness online training course raises awareness of the dangers associated with legionella and the practical steps that should be taken to reduce the risk that it presents.
Who is it for?
This course is for anyone responsible for preventing exposure to legionella bacteria, including duty holders, building managers, site managers, and those who carry out maintenance on water systems, as they all have a legal obligation to control the risk.
What are the objectives?
The course covers why you need to know about legionella, applicable legislation, key responsibilities of employers and employees, the key hazards associated with legionella, risk assessment, and risk reduction measures.
On completion of the course, you will understand what you need to do to minimise the risks of legionella bacteria in your water systems, so those who may be exposed to legionella risks are protected from harm.
